We Interchange With

LRWY has received a $367,500 grant with a required $157,500 in matching funds ($525,00 total) from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Bureau of Rail Freight, Ports, and Waterways (BRFPW), Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP) for rehabilitation of the Wyalusing bridge and track surfacing.

Scope of Work: Includes all labor, equipment, materials, and contracts required to perform the following five (5) tasks.

  1. Mobilization.
  2. Furnish and install 180 bridge timbers on a 216', 2 pier deck plate girder bridge (LRWY MP 234.92).
  3. Surface and align bridge approaches for 100' on each end.
  4. Furnish 4,500T of AREMA #3 ballast
  5. Raise, line and surface 56 miles of mainline track, including 21 mainline switches.

May 14, 2014 - Bid package released. Notice to bidders placed in 3 newspapers and directly sent to 24 potential bidders.

May 21, 2014 - Mandatory bidder conference held at the bridge work site. 7 bidders attended.

May 28, 2014 - Addendum 001 released. Expanded debris removal requirements to include storm debris and wooden walkway, clarified costing for ballast and ballast delivery.

June 9, 2014 - Bid opening at 1600.  5 bids received.

July 1, 2014 - Notice of Award issued to Atlas Railroad Construction, LLC in the amount of $469,612.00.

September 1, 2014 - Notice to proceed issued.

September 19, 2014 - Tamper and regulator delivered.

September 24, 2014 - Surfacing work started.

October 30, 2014 - Bridge work begins.

November 4, 2014 - Bridge work complete. LRWY inspection of bridge complete. No gigs found.

December 9, 2014 - Surfacing work complete from MP 269-245.  Work halted due to weather.

April 28, 2015 - HiRail inspectin by Atlas of remaining work area.

June 15, 2015 - Work resumes.

September 3, 2015 - Work complete.

September 9, 2015 - LRWY final inspection.

September 16, 2015 - Rework.

September 17, 2015 - All work complete. All equipment removed.

October 08, 2015 - PennDOT inspection. No defects found.
